My Evaluation
I am aiming my magazine at a certain age group, from school years of 12 to 13. By using bold and strong fonts and images I hope to attract my target audience. Also I would like for my stories to appeal to all my readers. It has a strong representation for teenagers, in-particular sixth-former students. As it has features and information on subjects of this age group.

I have learnt many new things from this project I found that photoshop is extremely helpful and makes it easier to manipulate the images that I have taken, however, I need to find out more about this program so as to be able to uses it for greater effect in the future.

I use many ideas from the media as they are important to draw the audiences attention towards my magazine and have experience in the way to capture their attention.  I used the eye catching designs and clear headlining the main interests from the way the media do their work on magazine front covers. I could expand my exposer by having a website, selling it in local shops and advertising it. I personally don't think that my work does challenge other magazines, however, by focusing on issues relevant to the target audience its specific to this age group.

I have learnt the importance of a presentation and the importance of a strong first impression can have an enormous impact on the targeted audience. Also that the media can manipulate the readers and buyers to sell their products.
Images
For my final photography I used a middle shot of a group of people on a school trip. I have enhanced the colour of the photograph and cropped it. I felt that I didn't need to do that much more to it as I was happy with the overall image. I used another photograph because I felt that it would be to plan. For the other picture i changed it to black and white as i wanted to make a contrast between both the pictures.
What have I deiced to do.
I wanted to use a plan background so that it would not draw the attention of the readers away from the headlines and pictures. The founts used were manly Airal Bold. By using the same font through out it does not make the front cover to busy. The two photographs where both positive images advertising the trips. As I feel that they would attract the readers and want them to read on. Although I used a range of different texts, I used simple colours. The text on the front cover is there to tell the readers a small amount of information about the inside of the magazine. I didn't want to give to much away or there would be no point in buying and reading the magazine.
Mockups of my front cover.
I made three different types of mockups. I did this to see which one I was going to use. By asking around I found out which ones were the best and if I could take different things from each one. I ended up picking the one which captures peoples attention straight away. I used ideas from each one of my mockups, more then one picture is very eye catching, strong headlines and the tiles are important. I used only three colours in each mockup front cover and I tried to keep the same font though out the front of the cover and used different boxes to display my headlines and events.

Getting started...

We analyzed the front cover of a magazine. We did this to focus and pick out how the media sell their products and to make them appealing toward their audience. I looked for the key things that draw the audiences attention to the magazine. There are a number of different techniques that are used like the pictures on the front, the colours used and the advertisement. There were many vibrant colours used to grab the audiences attention. The use of bold fonts and pictures highlights the key things in the magazine. The advertisements are a important when it comes to trying to get the buyers to read their magazines. Eye catching covers are also very important. By analysing the front cover of a magazine I can find out how to capture the audience's attention when doing my own sixth-form magazine.

I then made a questionnaire to see how many people felt about front covers of magazines and what they particularly liked about them. I found that colours, pictures, the advertisements on the front and the stories are what draw the audiences attention to their particular magazine. I would like to uses this information in my final front cover of my sixth-form magazine. The tile of the magazine is also very appealing toward the audience. By gathering information of other peoples views and feelings toward the front covers of some magazines I can compare them to mine own magazine and ensure that I put these qualities are used in mine. Hopefully make it more appealing to my target audience. The amount spent on a magazine is also important as if its to expensive it wont sell and if its to low then they wont get any profit.
